We need to talk about Egg Harbor
4:25 PM
If you're currently living in Illinois, Wisconsin, or Georgia and happen to like food, then you need to listen the fuck up.
Do I sound a little aggressive this evening? My sincerest apologies. I'm afraid I'm a little bit ecstatic to tell you about the best goddamn brunch I've ever experienced in my entire life.
Egg Harbor is a small chain of breakfast restaurants that currently exist in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Georgia. We have one here in Naperville, Illinois. And I'm telling you right now- if you're visiting Naperville or if you live in any of these states and have never been to Egg Harbor: You have to try it.
Egg Harbor is a home-y, quaint, elegant, country-style restaurant that just screams midwest. I was looking for a nice place to catch some brunch with my cousin who is commonly in and out of town for work, and this place had the most stars when I was looking for places close by on google maps. I'd read a couple good reviews, but I wasn't expecting too, too much, partly because once we got there, we had to wait half an hour to get in (which really wasn't a big deal at all. I was just hangry.)
The location in Naperville is actually quite large. And it was absolutely packed with people at eleven o'clock in the morning. But the host seated us after we'd done out waiting, and we were quickly met with the menu.
I was offered the coffee menu (and immediately I was like, um, hello, yes.) This place had some sort of special coffee bar. I was stuck between a s'mores latte and a mint chocolate chip latte, if that tells you anything. Either one probably should have been too much to go with breakfast, but I just said fuck it and ordered the s'mores latte. My cousin ordered a blueberry and strawberry smoothie.
For food, Kristin ordered the lobster scrambler. Yeah. They brought her a massive portion of scrambled eggs tossed with delicious pieces of lobster and a side of fruit. I had the Geneva Rösti, a traditional Swedish breakfast tradition. It was basically an egg-and-hasbrown pancake infused with bacon and onions, topped with sour cream and chives. This massive dish also came with a side of fruit and an english muffin with jam.
For the massive amount of food we received, a total of 30 dollars for the both of us honestly didn't seem that bad at all, (and still doesn't) especially considering the food was so amazing.
The staff was kind and considerate, especially considering that there were so many people packed into this restaurant. I actually read somewhere that this particular location had recently been renovated. My guess is that they had to expand the size of it to hold all of their customers. The wait was definitely worth it as well- no question. Because I feel like whenever you're going to go out for breakfast or brunch, there's always going to be a wait.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I hope you give it a try and have a fabulous time.
